Dr. Red Nose’s First Picture Book: “The Red-Nosed Child: Yeh Tao-Huang and Dr. Red Nose”

Tao-Huang was originally an outgoing, lively little boy who was loved by everyone. But after developing a brain tumor, he gradually became unsteady on his feet, and the pressure from the tumor also affected his breathing. Not only could he no longer attend school and play normally like other children, he could not even draw as well as he once had. Tao-Huang felt so useless, and crying almost became the only expression on his face.
Three months before he passed away, Tao-Huang met Dr. Red Nose. Accompanied by the ukulele, they sang, danced, and laughed wholeheartedly, and the hospital room was instantly filled with sunshine. Tao-Huang was no longer afraid of the hospital. He even put on a red nose and dressed up as a clown in his own style, marching with Dr. Red Nose and performing for the other children in their rooms. Seeing that he too could make people happy, he was extremely proud. He would even shout at the sky: “I am a big star. I’m going to heaven!”
By 2024, the picture book 《The Red-Nosed Child: Yeh Tao-Huang and Dr. Red Nose》 had already reachedits third edition, third printing. It was initially a gift from Tao-Huang’s mother to Dr. Red Nose. After Tao-Huang passed away in 2018, his mother wrote down the story of him and Dr. Red Nose and used drawings by him, his younger brother, and his good friends to create the life-story picture book 《The Red-Nosed Child: Yeh Tao-Huang and Dr. Red Nose》, sharing their story with others.
With the support of family and friends, Tao-Huang’s mother printed 500 copies for a charity sale, and all proceeds went toward funding Dr. Red Nose’s performances. His mother said: “Thank you, Dr. Red Nose, for accompanying Tao-Huang and making him happy throughout the final journey. I hope more children can meet Dr. Red Nose sooner.”
After all these years, Dr. Red Nose has never forgotten Tao-Huang, the big star: the little boy in the cowboy hat who brought us strength and inspiration. We remember how he worked hard to gather everyone’s laughter and bravely sailed toward the vast ocean.
