I was extremely surprised and moved when I received the association’s notice that the picture book featuring the life story of the Red Nose children was about to be republished. Looking back on the days when we first encountered Dr. Red Nose more than three years ago, although it lasted only a brief three months, it was the greatest blessing of our family’s entire life.
The experiences of those three months have remained connected to us throughout the long years of our lives. In October 2015, seven-year-old Dao-Huang’s illness gradually progressed, and the cancer cells began rapidly spreading through and attacking his brain. He suddenly lost many normal functions. In particular, when he could no longer hold a pen steadily, the disappointment and anger in his eyes, and his complaints that he was useless… Even now, remembering it still breaks my heart as his mother. All I could do was pray to Heaven: at the very least, please let this innocent child go to Heaven with the confidence and pride of knowing his own worth~
The arrival of Dr. Red Nose opened up an entirely new world for us. They wholeheartedly treated each child as the main character, improvising performances according to the child’s interests. During each hospital stay, Dr. Red Nose accompanied and guided Dao-Huang time and time again, helping him realize that he, too, could become a little Dr. Red Nose who brought joy to everyone. When he saw the smiles of other children enduring pain just as he was, Dao-Huang cast off the gloom of feeling useless and regained his confidence. He smiled at me proudly, and after Dao-Huang passed away, that smile became the most comforting memory I have whenever I miss my child.
I hope that this kind of life story can let more people know that what Dr. Red Nose do for us is not merely make us laugh, but also help us see the deeper meaning and value of life. I believe that Dr. Red Nose and the children will create sparks that bring about even more miracles of life.
Thank you to Dr. Red Nose for accompanying us every step of the way during the most important moments of our lives.
