用愛與幽默推動病房中的平等權利 —紅鼻子醫生展覽於高雄駁二登場!

The exhibition organized by the Red Nose Clown Care Association (hereinafter referred to as Red Nose Doctors) will be held from November 9 to November 17, 2024, at Warehouse B6 in the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung. Its theme is “A Day in the Life of a Clown Doctor: We Exist Because of Equality,” showcasing how clown doctors bring hope and warmth to hospitalized children and their families through humor and companionship in medical settings. Combining documentary images with live performances, the exhibition allows visitors to gain an in-depth understanding of the philosophy that “Laughter is a Human Right.”

Clown Doctors in Taiwan

The Red Nose Doctors program was launched by its founder, Ms. Ma Chao-chi, in 2015, and the Red Nose Clown Care Association was established as a legal association in 2017. To date, 39 professional clown doctors have been trained, performing regularly at 11 hospitals throughout Taiwan and serving more than 160,000 people. Ms. Ma said: “Every child has the right to play happily, and every parent has the right to share moments of laughter with their child. Whether in hospitals, battlefields, refugee camps, or even any challenging environment, this right should never be deprived.” The mission of Red Nose Doctors is to uphold the right to artistic equality under Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the right to play under Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, bringing laughter and humor back to hospitals and safeguarding the mental health of hospitalized children.

The Laughter Current of Red Nose Doctors Spreads Across Kaohsiung

The influence of Red Nose Doctors is not limited to northern Taiwan! Since 2018, with funding from Taiwan Power Company, Red Nose Doctors has launched the public art “Red Nose Doctors Experimental Program” in the greater Kaohsiung area, training eight clown doctors in southern Taiwan. They first began providing services at Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, gradually expanding to Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. This year, they have also innovatively launched an in-home service in Kaohsiung, delivering laughter like an electric current to every corner of the city. To date, they have completed more than 1,100 service sessions in Kaohsiung, bringing 43,000 smiles!

A Continuous Lineup of Joyful Activities Throughout the Exhibition

During the exhibition, there will also be multiple interactive activities for you to join! In addition to the documentary exhibition, which offers an in-depth look at the daily work of clown doctors, Red Nose Doctors has specially planned the “Clown Doctors’ Joyful Show.” Through carefully designed and amusing performances, children and parents can experience the humor and warmth of clown doctors in a relaxed atmosphere. The “Clown Doctors’ Joyful Clinic” will also take place, allowing parents and children to experience the interactive charm of Red Nose Doctors together, relieve stress, and rediscover long-lost smiles!

Even more worth looking forward to is the “Red Nose Evening Conversation” on November 8, which invites Jill and Jill’s mother, who have known Red Nose Doctors for more than six years, to share their story. Through this companionship, Jill not only found laughter but was also inspired to dream of becoming a clown doctor and spreading joy. The conversation will delve into “the right to laughter” and child-friendly healthcare. We look forward to the public joining us to engage in face-to-face exchanges with the clown doctors and explore the meaning of their mission together.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity! From November 9 to November 17, join us in opening the doors of the hospital and stepping into the joyful world of Red Nose Doctors! For more information about the activities, please visit the event website.
